What to know about me:
Alyssa Cruz

Alyssa was born in San Diego on December 20th, 1995. Alyssa was born two minutes earlier than her younger sister Aleena; they are identical twins. Alyssa started playing soccer when she was four years old; it took a while to get used to the game, at the time she was also playing softball. Although Alyssa liked softball, her dad saw her talents in soccer and fostered those into the amazing player she is today. Alyssa is known for her “fancy footwork” and can juke out the best players out on the field. Alyssa started playing with the competitive soccer club, the Bonita Rebels, when she was eight years old. Alyssa was the team’s goalie, helping the Rebels take first place her first season with them. A couple of years went by and Alyssa took her talents to Yuma, Arizona, where she moved there with her family. Alyssa adapted excellently to her new club soccer team, the Alianza Cobras. With the Cobras Alyssa was able to understand that soccer was not only a physical game, but a mental one as well. After a great run with Alianza, Alyssa moved back to San Diego where she rejoined the Bonita Rebels. Alyssa’s first year back helped take the Bonita Rebels to the elite premier bracket and also place top 5 in the State Cup. Alyssa credits her father, among others, who pushes her to excel and encourages her each practice to be the best she can. Alyssa states “I already know where I am headed in life; I am going to be a professional soccer player. With the coaching and guidance from my parents and coaches, I know I will achieve my dreams."

Aleena Cruz

Aleena was born in San Diego on December 20th, 1995. Aleena was not alone; she shared her arrival into this world two minutes after her twin sister Alyssa. Aleena started playing soccer when she was four years old, since then she has never looked back. From YMCA to AYSO, Aleena took center stage with her quick legs and fast moves. Aleena tried out for the Bonita Rebels club soccer team when she was eight, that first year her team took first place in their division. Aleena moved with her family to Yuma, Arizona where she continued the development of her soccer skills with the competitive club soccer team, Alianza Cobras. Aleena played mid-field, right along side her sister Alyssa; these two together became an unbeatable pair. The highlight of Aleena’s soccer experience in Yuma came with the invitation for her team to play against the Women’s Mexican National Soccer Team. Aleena has since moved back to San Diego and again plays with the Bonita Rebels soccer club. This time Aleena has found her talents landing the spot of the team’s sweeper. With Aleena’s leadership abilities and her dedication to her team, Aleena now serves as the Bonita Rebel’s team captain. Her first year back with the Rebels helped take the team to the premier level and helped advance her team to one of the top five in California’s state cup. Aleena states “I want to become the best of the best and I know I can if I put myself to the test”. She hopes to attend a college that has a great soccer program, play for the USA women’s soccer team, get signed to a European professional soccer team and finally live at a “level of greatness” that she knows she can and will achieve.
